Breakfast Club. Black Sheep. What About Bob. A Star Trek Marathon. There are many on the list. But I guess the one I watch the most would be Ghostbusters.

Day 20: A movie that you watch when you are angry...

I'm not exactly sure there is a movie that I watch when I'm angry. I usually play pool when I'm angry. Or I put in a season of How I Met Your Mother to cheer up. 

I think, the last time I was mad, I watched Zombieland. I wouldn't say it is one that I always throw in the DVD player when I'm in a certain mood, but I do enjoy it. And It is helping to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse...
That's a joke. although the CDC seems to think that we really need a plan. Jeez.

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, only to be troubled and insecure? Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food? Why do they report power outages on TV? Why do people who know the least know it the loudest? If vegetarians eat vegetables, what do humanitarians eat? When someone asks you, "A penny for your thoughts", and you put your two cents in, what happens to the other penny? Why is there only ONE Monopolies Commission? Does a fish get cramps after eating? Why does "slow down" and "slow up" mean the same thing? Why is it when two planes almost hit each other it is called a "near miss"? Shouldn't it be called a "near hit"? What does Geronimo say when he jumps out of a plane? Why is brassiere singular and panties plural? Why is it that if you tell a man that there are 400 billion stars, he'll believe you. But if you tell him a bench has wet paint, he has to touch it? What would a chair look like, if your knees bent the other way? Why is LEMON JUICE mostly artificial ingredients.... but DISH WASHING LIQUID contains real lemons? Why doesn't GLUE stick to the inside of the bottle? Do Roman paramedics refer to IV's as "4's"?


And I'm beginning to think that RedBull after 5pm is not such a good idea...






Day 19: A movie from your favorite director...

This is another hard one for me.

Of course there is Steven Spielberg, the most well known director, who gave us movies like Jaws, E.T., Close Encounters, Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. As well as Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan and War of the Worlds. And there is a movie coming out in 2013 called Robopocalpse... yeah. I really hope Big Bang Theory is still on the air then. I can't wait to hear what the guys have to say about this one. 

And then there is Alfred Hitchcock, who is a genius. The Ring, The Man Who Knew too Much, the original Mr. and Mrs. Smith, as well as the classics of Vertigo, Psycho, North by Northwest (one of my favorites) and The Birds.

But with this one I think I'm going to have to stick with the strange and bizzare from a very daring director. Stanley Kubrick is amazing. Of course if you read my blog you already know that I love Full Metal Jacket. So for this post I'm gonna go with A Clockwork Orange.

Better late than never...




Yes. I am finally watching Smallville... Now that it is over and done with. When the show originally started I tried to watch it but it was a little too cheesy and repetitive for me. Somebody gets affected by the meteor rock and turns into a bad guy. Clark kills him and the world is good again. Every episode was the same. I didn't even finish the first season. And I was never much of a DC person so other than knowing that he is Kal-El and came from the planet Krypton  when it was destroyed and can fly and is bullet proof and all that fancy stuff... I don't really know ALL of the background of the story. Never read the comic books. Wolverine on the other hand... now that movie pissed me off. They found all kinds of ways to mess that up. But I digress...

It is a new day and I have decided to give it another try. Once again the first season was very repetitive and cheesy but I watched it all in one day, plus a couple of hours the next, and dove right into the second season. Still a little cheesy but better. Now I'm a week in and half way through season 3. I'm liking it much more now and happy to see Lex becoming the Lex Luther we all know and love.

But I was quickly disappointed in the show, before I even really got into it, when a friend of mine told me that as soon as Lex starts to become the bad guy he is killed off. But later returns as Lex from another dimension or some shit... Ugh. It really makes me want to stop watching it. But as with all the other shows I have done this with... when I can watch a season in a couple days without having to wait a week, it's easy to get hooked. So I guess I will continue to watch.

Oh and it was pretty cool to see Christopher Reeve.

And Kristin Kreuk and Allison Mack are pretty nice to look at...

Day 18: A movie that you wish they showed on TV

Well, first of all I'm editing this question... because it's my blog and I can and nobody reads it anyway... and because movies on TV suck. The quality isn't as good and they have commercials...

So the new question will be Favorite Play or Musical Made into a Movie...

I guess most people would say Romeo and Juliet. Or Hamlet. Or RENT. Or any of those popular ones... but for me it is Noises Off! Love love love the play and the movie was phenomenal. But how can you go wrong with John Ritter, Michael Cane, Carol Burnette, and Nicollette Sheridan?It is high-larious!

Okay seriously... Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is on some channel at least once a month... 

Don't get me wrong. I love Harry Potter. But why is that the only one that gets played? There are like 6 other movies. I'm just sayin...








And of course every year in December we get 2 weeks of back-to-back A Christmas Story.

Day 16: A movie that you used to love but now hate...

When I was a kid (and spending weekends at my dad's house), There were a few movies that we always watched. Every weekend. He only owned a few and I don't think he really knew how to entertain my brother and I.

He loved Batman. And as a kid I really did too... but now, not so much. Now I find it rather annoying. But it is totally 80's with the big boom box and dancing while they are destroying the museum... That's really the only reason I don't like it anymore. I can just see how cheesy it is now. I much prefer to watch Dark Knight. :)

Day 15: A movie that you relate to

Well. We were young. We were in love. But the only way I could communicate with her was through a time traveling mailbox at my mother's lakehouse... 

Hahahaha. I'm just lying. I've never seen The Lake House, but I love the fact that they make fun of it on The Big Bang Theory. I kind of relate to a few movies... which is sad, I think.

One night my mom and I were (at the lake house) watching a movie and we both started crying. It reminded both of us of our relationship. 

So I guess I should give you a little background... at one point in my life, my mother and I hated each other. We couldn't spend 5 minutes in the same room together with out screaming. I left home early and tried to get out of the little bubble she wanted to keep me in. Look. I know all teenagers think that their parents are too protective and overbearing, but trust me... her friends did an intervention on her for her parenting...

But the really cool thing is that today my mommy and I are bestest friends. She is absolutely amazing. When we think about how we used to be, it's unbelievable. I am so grateful for her. She has been there for me and listened when I had no one else to talk to. So now, anytime we watch some stupid sappy mother-daughter drama, it gets to us... But the movie we were watching that night was Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.


Yep. That's me and my crazy mother... we are both a little crazy now, but at least we have an awesome relationship.  :)

Day 14: A movie that nobody would expect you to love...

This has been a really hard one. I have been thinking about it all day. The only movie that people are ever surprised by is Full Metal Jacket but I've already used that so I refuse to use it again. 

I am very diverse and most of my friends know this about me so nothing really shocks them... I still honestly have no clue. I have even asked for help and no one call tell me. They all say that they aren't really surprised by anything I like. 

I guess I might have to skip this one because if I put anything here it will probably be a lie just to complete the blog and that's not cool... so yeah. I like everything. All types of movies and apparently nothing I like is something that nobody would expect... damn it.

If I think of something another day I will edit :)

Day 13: A movie that is a guilty pleasure...

Okay. So I normally am not into chick flicks or really any of that girly shit... but I have one movie that I love. And I watched every episode of the TV show. I was tired of my friends talking about it and me being the only one who didn't watch it... so I got hooked. And even though the show is really completely girly and drama and reminds me of all my friends sitting around talking about their husbands I still loved it.

And that would be Sex and The City... if you couldn't tell already...

Day 11: A movie with your favorite actor/actress

Well Sandra Bullock is in a ton of movies... including Practical Magic with Nicole Kidman, who I also enjoy. And the same goes for Kevin Spacey, my favorite actor. But there is one movie where I get both of them. 

A Time to Kill has an amazing cast. My favorite actor AND actress as well as Samuel L. Jackson, who is phenomenal, Oliver Platt, Kiefer and Donald Sutherland, and Ashley Judd. I'm not a big Matthew McConaughey fan... but he's in it as well.

Day 10: A movie that makes you fall asleep

First of all, let me just say, I'm very impressed with myself that I made this 10 days without forgetting or getting lazy. Don't get me wrong. I was just sitting here thinking I don't really need to post today. I mean, it's not like anybody is reading this. But then I paused and decided I committed to this thing so I'm going to stick with it...

Even if the world is going to end tomorrow...

So. Back to the topic. There is one movie that I always put on when I'm having trouble sleeping. And it's not because it is boring. I love the movie. But the dialogue and everything is pretty soft. It works every time.

And that movie would be Lord of the Rings...

Day 9: Favorite Dance Movie

I really don't like this one. Only because I haven't seen all of these new trendy dance movies. 

I really enjoyed Center Stage. Both of them. And of course, there are the classics, like Dirty Dancing, from which we will forever have the phrase, "nobody puts Baby in the corner". Flashdance. Saturday Night Fever which started the career of John Travolta. (I prefer the Pulp Fiction side of John) and Footloose. The original... with Kevin Bacon...

But I suppose my favorite would have to be Save the Last Dance. I love how they intertwine her origins in ballet with modern dance. And it's Julia Stiles...

ATTENTION KROGER CUSTOMERS

1. If you ask me where the carrot cake is, and I tell you the only carrot cake we have is in the freezer, do not proceed to pick up every cake in my case and ask if it is carrot cake. For the 12th fucking time, the only carrot cake I have is the single and double layer round cakes in the FUCKING FREEZER!!! NO. The cake you are holding in your hand is NOT carrot because it is neither a round cake nor is it in the freezer where I told you you could find them.

2. Please do not get offended and start yelling at me for "being racist" because I have to ask you how to spell Laequisha (this is pronounced Luh-kee-shuh BTW). I have to ask how to spell everything these days because everyone wants to make their children's life a living hell just to be different. Lori/Lauri/Laurie. Trust me... it's not because you are black.

3. If you need me to read every single fucking label on every single cake because you didn't bring your glasses and can't see... HOW the Fuck did you drive here. Please give me a heads up as to when you are leaving so that I may make sure I will not be on the road with you.

4. The Star Wars cake that you got 6 years ago has been discontinued. In fact there have been 4 new designs since then. I cannot get you the same one you had 6 years ago because it has been DISCONTINUED!!! You might be able to find it online somewhere but I'm sure your kid/husband/brother/whoever would rather have this one. Seriously, the lightsabers actually light up. It's pretty sweet!

5. Don't tell me you bought Krispy Kreme donuts here last week. You need to lay off the pot. Krispy Kreme pulled out of the state of Texas 5 years ago. I honestly don't know what the hell you have been smoking, or perhaps you were in a coma for the last 5 years, but Kroger no longer sells Krispy Kreme. You are welcome to shop other locations and even other chains, but I guarantee you will not find them.

6. If you want to come in at the last minute because you obviously don't care about your loved one enough to actually place an order for a cake, you can't expect to find something as specific as "a half white, half chocolate cake with pineapple filling and chocolate icing". First of all, that's just disgusting... and no. Sorry, I don't keep those made on hand.

7. When I say "Hi. How are you doing today, ma'am?" I really don't want to know. The company makes me say that to greet the customer. I really don't want to hear your life story. Please leave that for your therapist (which you obviously need). A simple "I'm fine. I'd like to place an order" or "I'm good. Can you write on this for me" will do just fine. Thank you.

8. You want to know where we keep the milk??? Are you fucking kidding me? Yes. Here at Kroger we hide it away is some dark fucking corner in the back. It obviously wouldn't be in the fucking dairy department... Dumbass.

9. Yes I know that Item X was on sale last week. Apparently you are new to the whole shopping experience. The ad changes every week. On Wednesday. Some items go off and new items go on. It's simple really. If we kept the same item at sale price forever, it really wouldn't be a sale, would it? It would just be lowering the price.

10. No. I'm not going to call 15 other stores to see if they have an item that I already told you was discontinued last year... If they do have it, I can promise you, you don't want it.

Oh dear. Okay. So. I cannot watch Full Metal Jacket with other people. It is impossible for me to watch that movie without saying at least half of the lines out loud. No matter how hard I try, it just happens.

Tuesday Treats

I'm not really sure what this is for... but... yeah... It's a jungle out there... and I was rushed and did the writing a little high but... oh well.




And this would be one of those times when I should be able to tell a customer that they are dumb and need to listen to me, but no... that would get me fired.

But this makes no since. I mean come on. Why wouldn't you let me write "happy" birthday Maria????  Ugghhhh.... whatever. Not my cake. And you don't speak English anyway...

Day 7: A movie that reminds you of a certain event

In August of 2005, I was staying in the beautiful Hilton on Michigan Ave. downtown Chicago. The weather was glorious. Not a cloud in the sky, mid 80s and breezy the entire week. Unfortunately, the entire time I was there, every television in the hotel was focused on what was going on at home. 

When I arrived at the hotel Katrina had just entered the gulf . Over the next few days, I watched (on TV) as it made it's way to land, wondering what was happening to my condo and family back home. 

Luckily for me, Louisiana got most of the damage. We had some flooding and minor damage in our area, but nothing major.
That would come later. Ike left me without power for 15 days.

Anywho, in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the story is being told during Hurricane Katina. Every time I watch it I think of how strange that week was. 

And as worried as I was, I managed to have a blast and enjoy the beautiful weather of Chicago.  :)



And on a side note... yes. This was the same Chicago trip as my Ferris Bueller vacation. Heehee.

boredom

Well Blogger has removed a few of my posts... not that anybody is reading this anyway... but grrrr...

I thought about reposting them but the mood has passed. And I don't even really remember what I posted so I guess it wasn't that important. Life is pretty damn boring. Work. Eat. Play with the dog. Sleep. That's my life. Living alone in this house gets kinda quiet and crazy so I am starting this blog just to give myself something to do everyday. How sad is that?

And apparently there IS a limit to the number of movies I can watch in a day. After a while they just all start to run together. But it is great getting into a new show (new to me anyway) and not having to wait until the next week to see the next episode. Yep. And it's even better when the show is already on the 5th or 6th season. Just days of non-stop something to watch.

Oh and BTW: I had put off watching Tron Legacy because I was afraid I would be disappointed, or at least not that into it. I finally watched it the other day, and it turns out my predictions were right. Now, I was a little preoccupied so of course I will try to watch it again... but it didn't really grab me like I had hoped. The action scenes were amazing. The lightcycles... Epic. But it just didn't do it for me. I am having a really hard time finding movies that I haven't seen... and that I am interested in seeing. I'm not much of a chick-flick kind of girl. Hence finding new TV shows...

And when all else fails, throwing in a season of Big Bang Theory is always great.

Day 6: A movie that reminds you of somewhere

Well that's an easy one.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is all about Chicago. And, after spending a week there doing the "Ferris Bueller Vacation", I'm reminded of all the fun I had and what an awesome city it is.

I miss it and want to find time to go back.

Day 5: A movie that reminds you of someone

So my parents divorced when I was 5 and every other weekend I would go to my dad's house. Occasionally, he would pick me up just for a couple of hours to have dinner or see a movie. 

One night, he picked me up and said there was a movie he wanted to see. I, loving movies, was thrilled. We got to the theater at about 8pm and he purchased 2 tickets to Titanic

Now, I'm not sure how I really feel about this movie because every time I see it or here about it I just hear my mother yelling. My father and I didn't realize it was a 3 hour movie. And my mother wasn't happy with her 15 year old daughter being out until about midnight on a school night...

After that, my dad and I only saw movies during the day  :)

Day 2: your least favorite movie

Strange Wilderness is, by far, the worst film I have ever seen. I want my money back. and I didn't even see it in the theaters. I waited until Blockbuster was having one of those 4/$20 deals and I want my $5 back as well as the time I lost watching it.

okay... maybe this isn't going to be as easy as I thought. 

I have a favorite action movie, a favorite comedy, a favorite drama... But you say I have to break it down to one favorite movie of all time... Inconceivable!

It will have to be The Princess Bride

It has everything.

I don't think it is the greatest movie of all time, but it is one that I can watch a million times and never get tired of it. It doesn't matter if I want a comedy, or a romance, or some action, or drama... I can watch it.

Yep. That's my favorite movie. And now I have lines running through my head like crazy.

100 random facts about me

I've never really done this and it will probably take me hours to complete without a list of questions but here it goes...

1. my birthday is August 25

2. I'm addicted to caffeine (Dr.Pepper)

3. I hate coffee

4. I'm single

5. I broke both of my wrist riding my bike (not at the same time)

6. I stopped riding my bike in 8th grade (when I broke the second one)

7. I'm a cake decorator

8. I'm also a massage therapist

9. and I make greeting cards

10. I love to paint and draw

11. but I've never taken an art class

12. I've seen Full Metal Jacket at least 150 times

13. and I know every word to it

14. I celebrate national Star Wars Day :)  may the 4th be with you

15. I made a bucket list when I was 19 because I was always to afraid to try anything

16. I'm a die hard Green Bay Packers fan

17. I own over 800 movies. Notice I said "own" not "have seen"

18. I absolutely LOVE music. All types of music

19. I sing at the top of my lungs when I'm driving

20. I can't sing but I do it anyway. Isn't that what karaoke is all about?

21. I drive a 2008 Honda Fit

52. I once spent a day off watching all of the Star Trek movies in order

53. I believe Star Trek: The Motion Picture is one of the worst movies of all time

73. I took 4 years of Spanish in high school but I only remember the things I used after that (kitchen talk)

74. my first job was Sonic. I worked there for 6 1/2 years

75. I've never had a formal job interview. I was hired before filling out an application at all 4 jobs I've had.

76. I prefer to have the toilet paper roll over the top of the roll

77. Every couple of years I cut off all of my hair and donate it to locks of love

78. my mom's lake house is my favorite place in the world

79. I used my very first paycheck to buy Metallica's Binge and Purge Live shit box set. It cost $108.25. My paycheck was $128.23.

82. I'm quite disturbed with how Heroes ended. I was really looking forward to seeing how they were going to clean up Claire's little exhibition

83. I don't believe in aliens but I believe in the possibility of life on other planets... if that makes any sense.

85. I always find a way to kill plants. Not on purpose. I just can't seem to keep them alive.

86. I can pretty much duplicate anything just by looking at it. except people. I can't draw peole

89. I went skydiving when I was 19.

90. I loved Dean Koontz's book Demon Seed. Although I still think I will never get a high tech security system in my house out of fear that it might take over and try to impregnate me...

91. I drink a Red Bull almost every day at lunch

92. I have arthritis in my ankle, knees, and back but I still try to be active and do things my body doesn't want me to do

93. I sleep flat on my back and don't usually move

94. I've had the same watch for 7 years

95. I haven't grown since I was 13

97. I have played pool since I was about 13 and have won lots of money doing so. mostly because I a short little girl who nobody sees coming, but I haven't played much the last few months.

98. my android phone has made my computer less active.
